Hello, I'm André. I'm currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Institute of Computing (Unicamp). I also have a master's degree (Unicamp) and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Unesp), a post-graduation in Web Consulting (Fatec), and a Technical Course in Computer Programming (Etec).

From the professional perspective view, I've been working and "playing around" with different programming languages since I was 15 (13 years ago). Through this period I developed several Web Projects at GBD database research lab (8 years ago), took part in the development of a financial control system for companies at Nash Consultoria Empresarial (6 years), and, with a team, developed 30+ e-commerce platforms for mid-scale companies at Cammino (3 years). Now I'm focusing on building Semantic Web and Machine Learning solutions to assist Brazilian e-commerce customers on their purchase experience.

Philadelpho is the place where I was first introduced to programming languages. That's where I learned Java, Visual Basic, C, C++, database theory, computer networks, open-source software and operating systems.

2009 - 2011

Undergraduate Thesis

The presentation of the project entitled "Text Mining in Big Data: Performance Optimization in the Extraction of Radicals in Portuguese Language Words" aimed to comprehensively illustrate the state of the art of Text Mining, what is the impact in Big Data and how one of the stages of this Mining - called Radicalization - can have its performance improved through the use of the Map Reduce programming model and framework.

Introducing Bitcoin

Workshop presented at Cammino Digital, explaining to employees and broadcast live on Facebook, which aimed to present the Bitcoin digital currency, its technological and economic impact on a global scale, Blockchain, as well as the entire ecosystem that was created in over the "currency of the future".

The Workshop lasted approximately 1 hour and was responsible for my immersion and deepening in a subject of such relevance today.

E-commerce Frauds

This workshop, also held on Cammino Digital's "headquarters" and broadcast live on Facebook, aimed to address the types of fraud most present in Brazilian e-commerce, taking into account that in most cases, who ends up in the loss is the shopkeeper.

Succinctly, ways to stop the act were discussed, both on the side of the shopkeeper, the customer, and the e-commerce platform.

Round-table Discussion

The round table became a tradition in the last Computing Weeks at Unesp in Rio Preto. By inviting former students who are in the job market or who have followed an academic life, the round table generates interesting discussions for the public, most of whom are undergraduate students from the Computer Science Course at Unesp, since most of these students do not contemplate what to do after graduation.

I had the honor of being one of the guests at such an event in which, after participating as a listener, organizer, I had the honor of becoming a member of the discussion table.

CCES Presentation

The CCES - Center for Computing in Engineering & Sciences is a multidisciplinary research center located at Unicamp. Annually, members and affiliates meet to exhibit their research work.

At this event, I presented my Master's thesis in Lightning Talk format: 3 minutes, in English, to an audience composed of researchers from Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry and Engineering in general.

EPPC Presentation

The 3rd EPPC - Meeting of Graduate Students in Computing, which was held at IME- USP, is an event that takes place annually designed so that Master's and Doctoral students in Computing can exchange experiences about their research projects

I presented a poster on the theme of my master's degree: the maintenance of links in the Semantic Web and was able to discuss with other researchers from different universities about ontologies, semantics, natural language processing, among other topics related to my research.

WTD Presentation

The WTD - Theses and Dissertations Workshop is an event promoted by the Graduate Commission (CPG) of the Institute of Computing (IC) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). The target audience is IC graduate and undergraduate professors and students who wish to present their work and research projects in progress or recently completed.

In this event, in addition to being a member of the organizing committee, I reused the presentation made at USP using it on the Institute of Computing.
